Now this is amazing!
What is it? Looks awesome.
What’s his (her?) name? or better yet, what *IS* that?
Sure, most people have cuddly dogs and fuzzy grey cats who leave little tufts of hair and other various gifts all over the house … this lovely specimen of a creature, on the other hand, is just dying to be petted. Or admired.
In the pic on the right, I swear I see him/her/it smiling! As usual, the Mucha crew is just ‘too cool for school’. I’m going to dub this one ‘alterna-pet.’
I blame our strange pets on my background in biology and on the influence of a good college friend who majored in entomology. Anyway, this is not some strange alien from another planet, it’s a spiny flower mantis nymph (baby). He or she will molt a couple of more times, growing wings along the way. Mantids are beneficial insects who eat all sorts of plant-munching buggies. They are extremely docile and love to crawl around and explore. They can turn their heads in all directions to look at you. When they’re nervous, they sway from side to side like their dancing. Zeb calls it the “mantis dance”.
Oh My! Your new pet is amazing! The Robisons MUST come and play soon!!
